There are eleven different books in this story, and my first idea was to have eleven different illustrators – one for each book-within-a-book! From kings and queens to aliens and ghosts, there's something for everyone in Charlie's amazing book of adventure!

Charlie Cook is reading a book about a pirate captain, who is reading a book about Goldilocks, who is reading about a knight, who is reading about a frog. There are rows with chairs and soft blocks facing the stage, and some mats on the floor at the front. I wanted all the books to look very different - in different styles - but in the end there wasn't enough time to work that out (may be I would have failed anyway). Julia is also the author of the young fiction series, PRINCESS MIRROR-BELLE, and is much in demand for her brilliant events for children at schools, libraries and literary festivals. All ages are welcome at our shows and age ranges can only be a rough guide, but please bear in mind that Charlie Cook’s Favourite Book was not specially designed for under-threes.He has enjoyed particular success in his collaborations with Julia Donaldson, for which their many awards include the Smarties Gold Prize, the WH Smith Children's Book of the Year, the Blue Peter Best Book to Read Aloud and Children's Audio Book of the Year. A show aimed at two-year olds would have some differences – those shows are carefully made to hold their attention for the duration, and not to be unsettling for them. Note that there are restrictions on some products, and some products cannot be shipped to international destinations. This play is based on the original book Charlie Cook’s Favourite Book -Written by Julia Donaldson and illustrated by Axel Scheffler. They have brought many of my books to life on stage, and they do so creatively whilst remaining faithful to the books.

Julia Donaldson has written some of the world's best-loved children's books, including modern classics The Gruffalo and The Gruffalo's Child, illustrated by Axel Scheffler, which together have sold over 25 million copies worldwide and have been translated into over one hundred languages. This was the last book In the Julia Donaldson series I brought my grandson , they love them and are so well illustrated … as is this one .This isn’t an interactive show, but we always welcome vocal responses from young audiences, and you can join in by clapping along to the songs.

Axel Scheffler has achieved worldwide acclaim for his humorous illustrations, which are published in over 30 countries. The audience stay in their seats while watching, but you can leave and re-enter the auditorium at any time. There is nothing really scary in these shows but they can be a bit more dramatic than those for the youngest children, including in their use of sound and lighting, and characters may face some perils. The show features a dragon puppet who roars loudly and quite a big crocodile puppet, but these are both friendly characters.To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average.

Further books illustrated by Axel include Room on the Broom, Stick Man, Zog and The Smeds and the Smoos – all of which have been made into much-loved animated films by Magic Light Pictures. There will be up to 70 people watching the show (sometimes more if you come when there are school groups). But the publisher thought that would be too complicated, and Axel has done a great job making each book look different.
