This is my third year with Abrams Book’s Dinner Party group and as always, they seem to have a fantastic lineup of cookbooks to expand your horizons and tastebuds.

I very much enjoyed reading his commentaries and have marked about half a dozen recipes to test before the holiday season begins. In our household, we have a small collection of cookbooks that we like to turn to when we feel like switching things up with our home cooking. As much as I wanted the dramatic-looking romaine halves floating in a lovely broth, I had to consider the teens and knew they’d not eat it like that, so I chopped it and added as a garnish much as we do with pozole.

Despite being aimed primarily at the North American market, gram and ml equivalents are given for the many cup measurements which makes this book eminently usable in the UK. The next dish I made was actually because one of the other bloggers said it was a nice twist on Chicken Fried Steak. What I feel like I got was a strange juxtaposition of white tablecloth and blue collar that never quite made sense. Along with beautiful photographs of Matty's dishes and his farm, this book is filled with signature recipes that are equal parts approachable and tasty.Our purpose is to share our passion and knowledge with everyone to teach how they can cook more and have a good time while doing it. I just wasn't grabbed by many of the recipes and a lot I couldn't make due to equipment requirements or ingredients I can't easily get.
