About this deal

La Goudale Biere Blonde 330ml is a Belgian-style pale ale brewed at Brasserie Goudale in Arques, Northern France. Bières : le propriétaire de Saint-Omer rachète les Brasseurs de Gayant : Rayon Boissons - Le magazine des boissons en grande distribution". The range is expanding with the appearance of Goudale de Nöel, "G" de Goudale, Goudale Ambrée, Goudale de Printemps and Goudale IPA. This time you can pick out more stone fruits, even some apple in there, and the bready aromas are complemented by some more hoppy, spicy and floral ones. You have to love the champagne style cork, which adds massively to the sense of occasion with this beer.

Farmhouse-style being free-style in nature, though, means it's not necessarily predictable as we're about to find out. Any goods that are left by our courier according to your instructions and have not been signed for, must be left in a secure place. It's sweetish up front and across the middle but balanced by a moderate to median bitterness that kicks up in the semi-dry finish with the spiciness, and perhaps alcohol, adding something in. Made from a recipe dating from the Middle-Ages, the Goudale is named after its story, as we can read on the label: “In the 14th century, the Great Beers were named Goudale, Goudalle or Good Ale. Any instances of goods being delivered below expectations, such as broken bottles, should be reported immediately on arrival but within 7 days, upon which we will issue a refund for the damaged bottles.

Aroma of grainy and bready malt along with dried straw, woody spiciness, some floral character, soft orange marmalade, dried apricot, dull apple, and a hint of a clove-like phenol from the yeast. Pours slightly hazy/cloudy deep golden amber color with a 1-2 finger dense and rocky off white head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, bready malts, and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; with an awesome malt/bitter/spiciness balance, and no cloying/astringent flavors after the finish. All around awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, bready malts, and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; very smooth and fairly crisp/refreshing to drink with the modestly bitter/spicy/drying finish.

Tastes like quality beer, good alcohol volume so just one's enough to get a buzz going and two are enough for good times. Because we work from the barcode, if producers does not make us aware of a label change we often miss updates until we are contacted about it. Taste of big orange, peach, plum, pear, apricot, red apple, white grape, peppercorn, light banana/clove, honey, cracker, biscuit dough, toast, light caramel/nutty, herbal, floral, wood, grass, and yeast/toasted earthiness.Or maybe it was the fact I was sat sipping in the early evening French sun with my fellow beer reviewer Sammy.
