About this deal

I had been wanting to try Flo for ages, what really attracted me to this brand was the fast that the tampons are biodegradable and plastic free. A shocking 200,000 tonnes of menstrual waste ends up in landfills every year in the UK, so switching to recyclable, biodegradable or, even better, reusable sanitary products can make a real difference. They might have that same look and feel of plastic wrappers but ours are made from nature-flex (cornstarch) our 100% plastic-free + compostable! We know that everyone's body is different, so our subscription is designed to help you choose the best option for your FLO.

Recyclable and reusable sanitary pads 2022 – eco-friendly picks Recyclable and reusable sanitary pads 2022 – eco-friendly picks

Our panel of over 160 testers tried a range of eco sanitary pads and liners, including a mix of reusables and sustainably made and fully biodegradable disposables, during their period. They're made from sustainable, high-absorbency bamboo viscose, so less stress when it comes to leakages and planetary damage. Combining organic cotton with compostable corn-starch-based materials, we found the sticky backing to these pads helped them remain in place, even during exercise. I love this company and everything they stand for and have even encouraged friends and family to use the brand. I care about the environment but I still can't make the switch to the cup / reusable pads, so after trying out a few brands, this is the best I could find for my type of flow.Forget the not-so-green impact of throwing away or flushing countless pantliners during each period, NORA's reusable liners can be washed up to 150 times – a long-term, sustainable solution.

Not going back to pads, however for the days I have very little blood flow, I use their bamboo panty liners. I’m normally a UK size 12/14, they recommend sizing up so I went for the large (apparently a UK size 16/18). One of our beliefs at Here We Flo is that every single person is different and the products they will need will also be different based on their flows, their bodies and their personal preferences. FLO eco-friendly non-applicator tampons are 100% compostable – from tampon to wrapper, which means they’re the most sustainable / least wasteful single-use period product on the market.

Made from 90% plastic, your average menstrual pad can take up to a thousand years to decompose in landfill, or even end up polluting our oceans - and we’ve all watched enough Blue Planet by now to know the impact this has on wildlife. We were pleased with their leakage protection (so no need to worry if you plan on exercising) and the fact they’re made from natural materials like bamboo, which proved to be soft too. In the lab, we measured the amount of liquid each pad was able to hold and timed how long it took to be fully absorbed.
